Could a start-up redefine sailing experiences despite the Covid pandemic?



Direct Sailing Asia (DSA), is a start-up that aims to redefine the boundaries of sailing cruises globally by offering unique sailing experiences. Founded by a man with a great passion for sailing, he launched Discover Sailing Asia in 2018 in Hong Kong and returned to Singapore the year after.

Sailing is still a relatively niche and unknown hobby in Asia especially in Singapore, and it is not apparent how the market will respond to this new activity.


Flame Comms was engaged to study the market opportunities, and to develop an IR and marketing strategy that can raise the brand awareness of DSA and expand through the right investors and partnerships.




Results and Achievements

  • Flame Comms planned and executed a brand and marketing campaign for DSA, encompassing market research, global trends and the impact of Covid pandemic on the yacht industry.

  • To support the brand’s exposure to the local communities, Flame extended its reach to media and influencers, facilitating interviews with various mainstream media who went on board to experience the sailing trips.

  • Flame also prepared an IR deck for the investor communities. As a result of our connections, DSA was able to secure a win-win partnership with an established travel player. As a result, DSA enjoys fast growth in the Singapore communities and is poised for bigger growth when the borders open eventually.

  • Today, Discover Sailing Asia owns 5 yachts and has more than 24 team members. The team served more than 2,500 customers in its first 2 years of operations.
